India adds 4.6 GWh battery storage early 2026, 941% rise

India just added 4.6 GWh of battery energy storage in early 2026, a huge leap, a 941% increase from the October-December 2025 quarter (Q4 2025).
That brings the country's total to 5.9 GWh, showing how quickly things are scaling up for cleaner energy.
Rajasthan holds 42% of battery storage
Rajasthan is topping the charts with 42% of all storage, followed by Gujarat at 25%, and Maharashtra at 9%.
Most of these are stand-alone projects, but solar and wind combos are growing too.
The pipeline is looking strong with 69 GWh in development, and tender activity is heating up.
