India and Canada aim to seal CEPA pact by 2026

India and Canada just announced they're working to seal a major trade pact, called CEPA, by 2026.
Modi and Carney met for the fourth time in less than a year at the G-7 Summit, signaling that things are moving fast between the two countries.
India and Canada $70B trade target
The focus is on boosting trade and energy ties, with commercial arrangements related to liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and metallurgical coal.
Both countries want to double their trade to $70 billion a year by 2030.
They're also kicking off talks for a security agreement and putting extra emphasis on tech partnerships, skill-building, and innovation, plus there's a Canadian trade mission to India coming up soon.
