India has 9.2L AI professionals, 26-28% in core roles
Indian companies aren't just dabbling with artificial intelligence anymore: they're actually weaving it into how they work, from governance to everyday workflows.
According to Quess Corp.'s latest report, India now has around 9.2 lakh AI professionals, but 26-28% are in core AI roles while 72-74% use AI as part of their jobs.
India's AI workforce in supporting roles
Here's the catch: most new AI jobs need core specialists, but most workers are in supporting roles.
Global centers are hiring for reusable platforms and better governance systems, while IT service providers and big companies are rolling out AI across operations, finance, and customer service.
Quess IT Staffing CEO Kapil Joshi said, "Customer operations alone could see 45-60% of workflows augmented by AI, while marketing functions are undergoing one of the fastest AI-led transformations," showing how much practical impact this tech is having, especially in marketing and beyond.
