India launches 'In-Vitro Diagnostic Innovators Handbook' to boost domestic diagnostics

Business

India has prepared the "MedTech Mitra's In-Vitro Diagnostic Innovators Handbook" to help local companies create and launch homegrown diagnostic tools faster.
This move, jointly prepared by ICMR and CDSCO under the aegis of NITI Aayog, is all about cutting dependence on imports and making it easier for Indian innovators to bring their ideas to market.

Making things simpler (and cheaper) for Indian medtech

The handbook breaks down the tricky approval process into three clear steps: prototyping, clinical trials, and market licensing—so startups know exactly what to expect.
Jatin Mahajan from J Mitra & Co says this could lower product costs by up to half and give Indian companies a real edge.
The plan is also set to shrink India's massive import bill while helping local firms like Transasia Bio-Medicals and Molbio Diagnostics scale up big time.
