India set to become world's 3rd-largest economy by 2027
India is on track to leapfrog Germany and become the world's third-biggest economy by 2027, according to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Speaking at the YEF Bharat Summit 2025, he credited recent government reforms for this rapid rise—India has climbed from 10th to 4th place globally in just 12 years, even overtaking Japan along the way.
India's growth story & Madhya Pradesh's big moves
Scindia pointed out that about 2,000 years ago, India made up a massive 20% of global GDP.
He said that perseverance and reforms—including scrapping old colonial laws—have helped improve the economy, with India's GDP rising from $2.3 trillion to $4.5 trillion.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted how his state is attracting huge investments and driving innovation, with ₹32 lakh crore in deals signed at a recent summit and major projects already rolling out.
