India to approve Dixon Technologies stake in Vivo manufacturing JV
Business
Big news for tech and smartphone fans: India is set to approve a joint venture between Dixon Technologies and Vivo this month.
Signed back in December 2024, the deal puts Dixon in the driver's seat with a 51% stake, aiming to ramp up local electronics and smartphone production.
Vivo Noida plant likely joining JV
Vivo's Noida plant is likely joining the partnership, which should help Vivo manage its business risks in India.
The final nod from the Ministry of Electronics and IT is still pending, but things look promising after initial clearances.
The new team-up will focus on making Vivo smartphones and other gadgets right here in India, a big move considering Vivo sold 3.5 crore phones last year and Dixon made around 3.2 crore devices themselves.
