India's electronics exports jump to 3rd spot valued ₹13L/cr
India's electronics industry just jumped to the third spot in exports, now valued at ₹13 lakh crore, right behind petroleum and chemicals.
IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says the next goal is to move up to second place, making India a bigger player in global manufacturing.
Electronics exports are booming, with a 24.4% jump in the first two months of FY27, hitting $10.27 billion even with some international hiccups.
Smartphones drive exports, semiconductor plants expand
Smartphones are driving this surge: they made up nearly three-quarters of electronics exports in April, with the US alone buying $2.93 billion worth.
On top of that, India is stepping up its semiconductor game: new plants have started running in Sanand, another opens soon in July, and Tata's Assam factory is set for December 2026.
All these moves aim to boost India's tech scene and manufacturing strength.
