The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has taken action against the service provider's staff following a violent brawl at the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi. The incident, involving the catering staff of the Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express train, erupted in the early hours of Thursday. The chaos was triggered by a verbal spat over where to keep a water box inside the train.

IRCTC has also slapped a hefty ₹5 lakh penalty on the service provider involved in the incident. The corporation said that all four employees' ID cards have been deactivated and they have been derostered. A show-cause notice for termination of contract has also been issued to the service provider, IRCTC added in its post on X.

Brawl witnessed by shocked passengers
The violent clash, which was witnessed by shocked passengers at the station, was captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media. The footage shows a member of the catering staff throwing dustbins, swinging leather belts, and exchanging punches on Platform Number 7 of Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.

RPF registers case, investigating further
The brawl has raised concerns among railway officials that such incidents could tarnish the image of high-end services like Vande Bharat. Passengers at the station were left shocked by the sudden outburst of violence between railway employees. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (affray) and is investigating further to ascertain responsibility for this incident.
