IRS officer Sandip Pradhan joins SEBI as Whole-Time Member
Business
Sandip Pradhan, a senior IRS officer from the 1990 batch, has just been named a Whole-Time Member of SEBI—the body that keeps India's stock markets in check.
He's stepping in for three years, after serving as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in Pune.
The appointment was officially announced by the Finance Ministry.
Why this matters for SEBI
Pradhan fills a key spot left open since Ashwani Bhatia retired earlier this year and after another member resigned last month.
Now, SEBI has three out of four Whole-Time Members on board—including Pradhan's fellow 1990 batchmate Kamlesh Chandra Varshney—which should help the regulator stay sharp and keep India's fast-moving markets running smoothly.
