Karnataka's tax collection falls short in November
Karnataka's tax department came up short in November 2025, collecting ₹72,131 crore instead of the ₹80,000 crore goal.
This covers GST, state sales tax, and income tax.
The aim for the year is a big one—₹1.2 lakh crore—so this gap has officials paying close attention.
What's behind the numbers?
GST brought in ₹53,522 crore, KST added ₹17,595 crore, and Income Tax chipped in ₹1,014 crore for November.
Lower GST rates slowed growth from 12% earlier this year to just 3% recently.
To boost collections and fight evasion, the government ran about 13,000 inspections, which brought in an extra ₹3,183 crore.
Officials have also been instructed to use data analytics and technology to analyze past data and monitor for fraud.
One bright spot: Excise collections
On a positive note, the Excise Department pulled in ₹26,215 crore by November—up over 10% from last year and on track with its annual target.
It's a small win amid otherwise tight numbers for the state.
