Lindsey oil refinery to cut 125 jobs
Business
The Prax Lindsey oil refinery in north Lincolnshire is letting go of 125 workers at the end of October, after entering administration this summer.
Even with the layoffs, about 255 people will stay on at the site.
The Insolvency Service says it will help those affected through its Redundancy Payments Service.
Trade union Unite criticized the decision
These cuts follow failed attempts to find a new buyer and come as owner Winston Soosaipillai faces legal action and has had £150 million in assets frozen—he's currently missing.
Energy Minister Michael Shanks says he's concerned for workers and wants a long-term fix, while trade union Unite criticized the decision, noting there were offers to keep the refinery running.
