Lloyds to hire 300 tech experts for agentic AI
Lloyds has launched a recruitment drive for 300 tech experts, intended to work on its use and development of agentic AI by September as part of a big push to modernize the bank and bring in more agentic AI, basically smarter tech that runs with less human help.
These new hires will join a growing team working on things like making online banking feel more personal and automating behind-the-scenes tasks.
Lloyds promises staff retraining investment
The main goals? Boosting fraud detection, improving customer experience, and making daily operations smoother.
While all this tech could mean some jobs change or disappear, Lloyds says it's investing in retraining its staff so people aren't left behind.
The move comes as some UK banks are becoming reliant on AI faster than they are preparing for outages, but not all are fully prepared for the risks: only about half have even tested what happens if their AI goes down.
