LPG prices hiked for 1st time in nearly a year
Business
Starting March 7, the price of a regular 14.2-kg LPG cylinder has gone up by ₹60 in Delhi, now costing ₹913.
This is the first increase since last April's hike.
Prices in other major cities
Major cities are seeing similar bumps: Mumbai cylinders are now ₹912.50, Kolkata's at around ₹930-₹939, and Chennai's at ₹928.50.
Even commercial cylinders got pricier this month, with increases of about ₹28-₹31 and a separate revision of about ₹115.
What's the reason?
Global energy prices have shot up thanks to ongoing Middle East tensions. Since India imports over half its LPG, these changes hit home fast.
Regular users feel the pinch with every revision, but Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries still get their subsidies and aren't affected for now.
