Maharashtra FDA suspends 105 food business licenses ahead of Diwali
Big news for foodies in Maharashtra: the state's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just suspended licenses of 105 food businesses (yes, even big names like Blinkit and Zepto) after a special inspection drive ahead of Diwali.
Seven spots were shut down completely for major safety violations, with most suspensions happening in Nashik and Mumbai.
FDA seizes 39,485.42kg unsafe food
Inspectors found a bunch of hygiene problems: poor storage, bad manufacturing practices, and lack of pest control.
Popular places like Rajdhani Biryani Centre in Mumbai and some Pune outlets were closed for these issues.
The FDA also seized 39,485.42kg of unsafe food (worth ₹1.35 crore), plus banned gutkha worth ₹7.96 lakh.
This led to three FIRs and two arrests, with Pune seeing the biggest haul.
The whole drive is part of making sure what you eat is actually safe, especially during festival season.
