Palantir CEO Alex Karp urges practical AI use over 'tokenmaxxing'
Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir, thinks OpenAI and Anthropic are focusing too much on "tokenmaxxing," basically pushing AI to churn out tokens for productivity, but not actually helping businesses where it matters.
He told CNBC that a lot of companies working with these AI labs are frustrated, and believes real value comes from putting AI tools to work in practical ways.
Alex Karp warns against celebrating layoffs
Karp says it's not enough for AI models to be impressive; how they're used is what counts, especially in the next seven years.
He also warned tech leaders against celebrating job cuts caused by AI, suggesting that bragging about firing people could backfire with employees and policymakers.
As he put it: "If you run around saying AI allowed you to fire two-thirds of your workforce... you might as well just go sign up for the Bernie Sanders manifesto."
