RBI: Indian outward flows up 27% in FY27, inward dips
Indian businesses sent $176.586 billion abroad in FY27, a 27% jump from last year, according to new RBI data out today.
Meanwhile, money coming into India (inward investment) dipped slightly by 2%, landing at $747.134 billion.
The numbers come from the RBI's latest annual census on Foreign Liabilities and Assets (FLA) tracking 43,123 Indian entities with cross-border deals.
Unlisted nonfinancial firms dominated cross-border deals
Most of these cross-border moves came from unlisted entities (97% of all players weren't on the stock market), and nonfinancial firms made up over 90% of the equity action.
For Indian investments heading out, Singapore, U.A.E. and the US were the top picks (over half went there), while the top source of foreign money flowing into India came from the US Mauritius, Singapore, and the UK.
