RBI wants banks to share credit info every week now

Business

The RBI has announced that banks will need to send in credit info reports (CIRs) every week, moving up from the previous system—first monthly, then fortnightly—to make sure the data used for loans is always fresh and accurate.

Here's how the new schedule works

Banks will now report credit info on the 9th, 16th, 23rd, and last day of each month.
They also have to send a full update of all active and closed accounts by the 5th of the next month.
For those in-between dates, only new changes need to be reported within four days.
The RBI hopes this will help keep everyone's credit records more up-to-date and reliable.
