Retail inflation eases for farm, rural workers in May

Good news for those working in India's fields and villages—retail inflation dropped noticeably in May 2025.
Prices for agricultural workers rose by just 2.84%, down from 3.48% in April, while rural laborers saw inflation dip to 2.97% from last month's 3.53%.
That's a big improvement compared to the steep 7% rates seen last year.

Price indexes for farm, rural laborers also dipped

The main price indexes—CPI-AL for farm workers and CPI-RL for rural laborers—also edged down this May.
CPI-AL slipped by two points to 1305, and CPI-RL dropped by one point to 1319 compared to April.
All in all, it looks like things are getting a bit easier on wallets across India's countryside.
