Sagar Defence and Boeing's Liquid Robotics team up to build smart sea drones in Pune

Business

Sagar Defence just opened a new plant in Pune to make Wave Glider Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) with Liquid Robotics, a Boeing company.
These high-tech sea drones run on wave and solar power, letting them patrol the ocean for months without stopping.
The partnership is part of the US-India Major Defence Partnership and 'Make in India' push.

Why does it matter?

This move puts India on the map for next-gen maritime tech, with plans to export across the Indo-Pacific.
It also boosts India's self-reliance in defense—Sagar Defence's founder Capt. Nikunj Parashar says it's about building capacity at home.
Plus, leaders from both companies see this as a big step toward stronger US-India defense ties and safer regional waters.
