Sensex jumps then eases, ends higher while Nifty holds
Business
The stock market had a bit of a roller coaster today. Sensex started strong, jumping 410.51 points to 77,218.99, but lost steam as investors cashed in profits and global markets turned weak.
Later in trade, Sensex was up 108.75 points at 76,917.23, while Nifty barely held on to be up 20 points or 0.083% at 24,009.15.
Investors lock profits, global markets weaken
Investors took a breather after three days of gains, choosing to lock in profits. Global jitters didn't help either.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1%, and US markets were mostly down.
Plus, everyone's watching the US Fed's next move under its chair, which could shake up interest rates.
