Sensex closes at 54,395 points, Nifty settles at 16,216
The stock market on Monday ended on a sluggish note as the Sensex settled at 54,395.23 points and the Nifty stood at 16,216 points. On the other hand, the midcap indices were trading in the green as the Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.31% to close at 7,691.4 points. Here are more details on the markets' performance on Monday.
As far as the top sector gainers are concerned, NIFTY ENERGY, NIFTY METAL, and NIFTY COMMODITIES topped the list, edging up 2.63%, 1.93%, and 1.89%, respectively. Meanwhile, the top stock gainers were Eicher Motors, ONGC, and Tata Steel, which climbed 3.93%, 3.29%, and 3.03%, respectively. Bharti Airtel, TCS, and HCL Tech emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 4.98%, 4.64%, and 4.07%, respectively.
The Asian markets witnessed a poor run on Monday. While the Shanghai Composite Index slipped to 3,313.58 points, Hang Seng plunged to 21,124.2 points, and the Nikkei dropped to 26,812.3 points. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a surge, edging 0.12% higher to 11,635.31 points.
The Indian rupee (INR) on Monday weakened against the US Dollar, plunging 0.24% to settle at Rs. 79.44. On the other hand, the gold and silver futures prices closed on a flat note on July 11 with the former settling at Rs. 50,649, and the latter at Rs. 56,838. The crude oil futures fell by $0.73, or 0.71% to $102.43 per barrel.
The world's most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin is selling at $20,547.00, which is down 0.02% compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, Ethereum is up by 0.26% and is currently trading at $1,148.11. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are listed at $0.9994 (0.01% down), $231.85 (0.41% up), and $0.4563 (0.23% up), respectively. Finally, Dogecoin is trading 0.08% higher compared to yesterday at $0.06533.
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Monday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter, and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
