SpiceJet orders 100 futuristic HORIZON jets from Natilus for ₹1.5Lcr

Business

SpiceJet just made a big move by ordering 100 HORIZON jets from San Diego-based Natilus, which has an Indian subsidiary headquartered in Mumbai.
This is part of Natilus's push to get its new planes certified in India and maybe even build them here—India could end up making around 300 of these next-gen aircraft.

What makes the HORIZON jet special?

Each jet can seat 200 passengers, haul up to 22.7 tons, and still fit into regular airports thanks to its 118-foot wingspan.
The real kicker: Natilus says these planes use 30% less fuel and cut emissions and operational costs by half compared to Boeing's 737 or Airbus's A320.

Why all the buzz about the design?

The HORIZON stands out with its blended-wing-body shape—think smooth curves where wings and body merge together.
This means less drag, more space inside, quieter engines at the back, and flexible cabin layouts.
While big names like Boeing have toyed with this idea, Natilus is actually rolling it out with about 400 pre-orders for Kona already on the books.
