UK and India launch £4.8bn free trade deal July 15
Business
The UK and India are officially rolling out a £4.8 billion ($6.5 billion) free trade agreement on July 15, 2026.
While there were some last-minute worries about the U.K.'s new steel tariffs possibly delaying things, both countries' leaders cleared the air during the G7 summit in France, so it's full steam ahead.
UK and India cut tariffs
This deal means major tariff drops: India will cut whisky tariffs from 150% to 40% and automotives from 10% under a quota to 100%, while the UK will lower duties on Indian clothes, shoes, and food items.
Businesses now have just 28 days to register if they want in on these savings.
British Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle is urging companies to get ready, saying this is a real chance for exporters on both sides.
