UPI transactions to speed up from June 16
Starting June 16, 2025, paying with UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm will feel noticeably faster. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has slashed the wait time for key UPI services—making digital transactions smoother and less stressful for everyone.
What's changing from today
NPCI has cut response times for status checks and reversals from 30 seconds to just 10 seconds. Even address validations for Pay or Collect requests now take only 10 seconds instead of 15. This means less waiting around, especially if your payment fails or you're waiting on a refund.
More changes coming in August
In August, NPCI plans to roll out updates focused on security and handling busy periods better. Expect limits on balance inquiries and stricter rules for autopay retries during peak hours—so your payments stay safe and hassle-free even when everyone's online at once.
