Vedanta Ltd. to exit MSCI Global Standard Indexes after demerger
Vedanta Ltd. is getting dropped from the MSCI Global Standard Indexes on June 22, 2026, right after its big demerger.
MSCI made the call because Vedanta's market value shrank a lot after splitting into five listed companies: Vedanta as the residual entity, Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil & Gas, and Vedanta Iron & Steel.
Vedanta Aluminium debuts, tops parent 2.06L/cr
Shareholders now get one share in each of the four new companies for every Vedanta share they owned.
Among these, Vedanta Aluminium stood out by debuting at ₹527 per share and even surpassed its parent in market value at ₹2.06 lakh crore. The other three listed much lower.
With all this reshuffling, Vedanta's stock dipped over 2% to below ₹296 as markets adjusted and analysts expect most of these spin-offs won't make it into major indices like MSCI for now.
