    Five of the most well-known and successful alumni of IIM-Bangalore
  • The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the most sought-after business schools in the country that provide quality management education and IIM-Bangalore (IIM-B) is considered one of the best ones.

    IIM-B, established in 1973, has produced some of the most illustrious alumni, over the years, who have made significant contributions to different fields.

    Here are five famous IIM-B alumni you should know about.

  • Renowned space scientist K Radhakrishnan, who headed the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) between 2009-14, is one of the most famous IIM-Bangalore alumni. He pursued post-graduate studies in management at IIM-B in 1974-76.

    Before becoming ISRO's chief, he was the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (2007-09). He's also known for India's Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan missions. Radhakrishnan was honored with Padma Bhushan in 2014.

  • Hasmukh Adhia, an IAS officer and India's former Finance Secretary and Revenue Secretary, is also an IIM-B alumnus.

    He pursued the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGP-PPM) from IIM-Bangalore. The 1981-batch IAS officer was the Revenue Secretary between 2015-18 and Finance Secretary between 2017-18.

    He's currently the Non-Executive Chairman of Bank of Baroda and Chancellor of the Central University of Gujarat.

  • Vipul Parekh, one of the founders of leading online grocery store BigBasket, is also a famous alumnus of IIM-Bangalore. He obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM-B in 1988.

    He co-founded BigBasket in 2011 along with VS Sudhakar, Hari Menon, VS Ramesh, and Abhinay Choudhari in Bengaluru. He is currently the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the online supermarket.

  • Ashish Goel and Rajiv Srivatsa, the founders of furniture and decor retailer Urban Ladder, are also the alumni of IIM-Bangalore.

    Goel, the CEO of Urban Ladder, is an IIT-Bombay graduate while Srivatsa, the CPTO of the company, is an IIT-Madras graduate. They both pursued MBA from IIM-B (2002-04).

    Urban Ladder which started as an online furniture retailer now also operates some offline stores.

  • Sahil Barua, one of the founders of e-commerce logistics company Delhivery, is an IIM-Bangalore alumnus. He pursued BE in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Karnataka and obtained PGDM from IIM-Bangalore. He co-founded Gurugram-based Delhivery in 2011 with Mohit Tandon, Bhavesh Manglani, Suraj Saharan, and Kapil Bharati.
