Delhi: DMRC's housing scheme to be launched in May
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is currently building 2BHK and 3BHK flats in Janakpuri and Okhla which would cost between Rs. 60 lakh and Rs. 1.20cr. The housing scheme would be launched in May; brochures will be released along with an application form to book the flat. DMRC promises to deliver these flats by 2019. Read on to know more from Delhi.
LGBTQ community performs flashmob in Hauz Khas, Delhi
Members of the LGBTQ community performed a flash mob on Saturday evening at the Hauz Khas Village in Delhi. Members danced to dhol beats as intrigued pedestrians looked on. At the end of the performance, there was a freeze mob, where placards with stereotype-breaking messages were held up by the members.
Children disallowed in school over parents' refusal for hiked fees
On Monday, three students of Classes 1,7 and 9 respectively were not allowed to enter the Shalom Hills International School in Sushant Lok 1 for more than 5 hours. The school management refused to take them in as their parents had refused to pay the hiked fees. The students were sent home from school on 3rd April over "non-payment of fees."
Forest department registers case against DPS Ghaziabad authorities
Authorities of the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, Meerut Road, have been booked by the district forest department for the alleged cutting of 40 trees. Some students of the school informed environment activists, who along with the forest department conducted an inspection on the premises on Monday. According to them, the incident most likely took place last month.
TN farmers strip naked outside Rashtrapati Bhavan
Tamil Nadu farmers, who are currently protesting in Delhi for the drought relief fund, on Monday stripped naked outside South Block near Rashtrapati Bhavan. They did so because they were allegedly not allowed to meet Prime Minister Modi. Three farmers stripped and rolled on the road, chanting "Shiva" and shouting slogans simultaneously. Soon, the police intervened and took the protesters back to Jantar Mantar.
UP Government seeks details of Noida, Greater Noida employees
After installing biometric machines to keep track of employees running late to office, the Uttar Pradesh Government now wants details of 73 employees who haven't provided their fingerprints. Deputy CEO (DCEO) of Noida, Saumya Srivastava directed that the salaries of these employees must be confiscated, if required data isn't supplied immediately. Noida authority employees must reach offices by 9:30am, and cannot leave before 5pm.
Four-year-old crushed beneath school van after being dropped home
A four-year-old schoolgirl was run over by a private school van in east Delhi's Shakarpur on Monday. According to police, the accident occurred after the van dropped her near her house, and later reversed. By the time the driver applied the brakes, the girl had already been run over. Anushka studied in LKG in Universal Public School, Preet Vihar.
