    The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) denied the Delhi Government's demand that Class 10 students should be evaluated on half-syllabus for 2 years, as they were unprepared for the exams. The CBSE however, rejected the same, stating that rules cannot be altered for one state. Last year, CBSE had made Class 10 exams mandatory for all. For more news from Delhi, read on.

    Capital's water supply likely to be normalized by Friday

    According to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), the water supply in parts of the Capital is expected to normalize by Friday or Saturday at the latest. The city was facing shortage due to reduced water supply from Haryana. A senior DJB official on 17th May said Haryana had released 200 cusecs of water, which was expected to reach Delhi by 4 am today (18th).

    89 villages of the Capital declared urbanized

    Making way for the implementation of the Land Pooling Policy, the Urban Development department of the Delhi Government declared 89 of the city's villages as urbanized. This decision will allow the development of these lands under the Land Pooling Scheme which aims to provide affordable housing to residents of the city.

    Drug worth Rs. 22cr nabbed from Dwarka, 2 held

    Two persons from West Delhi's Dwarka were arrested by the police on 17th May, who also recovered around 22.5kg of Ephedrine, a popular drug in rave parties. The monetary value of the seized drugs in international market is approximately Rs. 22 crore. According to the Police, the drug was being procured in Punjab to be sold in Delhi, Chandigarh, Mizoram as well as Myanmar.

    Commercial CNG vehicles' age increased to 15 years

    The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Meerut, accepted a long-pending demand of CNG transport and auto unions, and increased the age of commercial vehicles to 15 years. Furthermore, the RTA also extended the grace period for renewing permits from 6 months to 9 months in the first attempt. Currently CNG buses, autos and tempos can ply for 12, 10 and 7 years respectively.

    171 animals died in Delhi zoo in one year

    Delhi's National Zoological Park recorded the highest mortality among all major zoos in India, in the last one year. 171 animals died in the zoo last year; this is also the highest death toll recorded in the Delhi zoo in recent times. According to sources, most animals died in the summer or winter of 2016.

    Homebuyers protest, submit RERA draft's memorandum to CM

    On 17th May, Gurugram's homebuyers protested peacefully outside the deputy commissioner's office at the Mini Secretariat over the alleged alteration of rules in the state's Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA) draft. Later, they also submitted a memorandum to the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), North, Bharat Bhushan Gogia. The memorandum was addressed to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
