    With colleges witnessing a slight drop in cut-offs this year, admission committee of colleges are expecting a larger turnout on Tuesday and Wednesday. A few college principals said that many parents and aspirants were unable to complete the admission process due to online technical glitches.     Delhiites to travel in 'driverless' metro trains in three months

    In a time period of three months, Delhiites will get to have an experience of Delhi Metro's first 'driverless' trains on the Magenta Line that connects Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden. The metro trains are highly automated and run on Unattended Train Operation (UTO) mode. During the initial stages, train operators will be present in trains and DMRC will gradually switch to UTO mode.

    Haryana: Villagers sport black bands to protest lynching of teenager

    On the occasion of Eid, residents of Khandoa village near Ballabgarh have decided to sport black bands while offering prayers to protest the murder of a teenager in a train headed to Mathura from Delhi. The police hasn't made any progress in the case so far. The Haryana police announced a prize of Rs. 1 lakh for any information about the incidents or suspects.

    School lodges FIR against parents for confining staff within school

    School officials from Khaitan Public School lodged an FIR against several protesting parents for allegedly confining the school staff to the school premises by locking the gates. Nearly 200 persons protested against the management for dismissing 29 students by issuing transfer certificates (TC). They also alleged harassment by school authorities by not accepting fees as per old fee structure.

    Gurgaon's water table shrinking by two metres every year

    In the wake of rapid urbanization, experts say that Gurgaon's water table is shrinking by two metres or more every year. At present, the city's groundwater extraction stands at 308%, far more than neighbouring areas like Faridabad at 75%. If shrinking continues at this rate, Gurgaon will become more vulnerable to earthquakes, and it lead to formation of voda-zones (shallow areas) under its surface.

    De-silting delay likely to choke Delhi drains again

    The de-silting of drains in Delhi is still going on in some parts, even though June 15 deadline for de-silting has passed. PWD claims to have cleaned 80% of the drains. The heavy rain on June 19 led to huge traffic snarls in Delhi. On June 21, the Delhi High Court severely criticized the three MCDs for not doing their jobs.
