What's the story
Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, who recently directed the box office hit Thamma, has reacted to reports of making a mythological drama on Karna from the Mahabharat. Speaking to News18 Showsha, he said, "In Marathi literature, there is this character on whom many books have been written, Karna... I feel he is a very fascinating character to work around."
Director's statement
'I discussed with someone...'
Sarpotdar said, "I am attempting to do something. I'll tell you how these reports came in. I discussed with someone on a very research-level, and it got leaked." He added, "Actually, it is on my wishlist, but I haven't reached that level with the story and the character yet where I feel 'yes this has to happen.'"
Box office triumph
Meanwhile, 'Thamma' continues to do well at box office
Sarpotdar is currently enjoying the success of his latest film Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Despite facing competition from Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa's Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, it has been performing well at the box office. On Day 11 (Friday) of its release, the film added ₹3cr to its collection, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹111.43cr, according to Sacnilk.
