'Akhanda 2' release delayed after financial dispute
Akhanda 2, the much-awaited sequel starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, won't hit theaters as planned.
The Madras High Court has paused its release after Eros demanded over ₹11 crore along with interest in unpaid dues from the production house, 14 Reels Entertainment.
The film was supposed to premiere on December 5, 2025.
What's going on behind the scenes?
This all started with a payment dispute dating back to 2015.
Even after a legal order in 2019, the money wasn't paid, so Eros petitioned to halt the release of Akhanda 2.
Now, Akhanda 2 can't be released until these dues are settled.
Stars step in to help
To speed things up, both Balakrishna and Srinu have agreed to waive part of their fees— Balakrishna let go of ₹7 crore and Srinu gave up ₹4 crore.
Their move is meant to help clear payments faster and get Akhanda 2 back on track for its theatrical release.
