Amy Schumer says weight loss was about survival, not looking hot

Entertainment

Amy Schumer just got real on Instagram about losing 23kg—not for looks, but for her health.
"Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary," she wrote. "I did it to survive," she shared in a heartfelt post.

What's the story?

Schumer has been through some tough health battles lately. After her son's birth, she developed Cushing syndrome from steroid injections, which caused major facial swelling.
She also had endometriosis so severe it led to a hysterectomy and appendix removal in 2021.
Now, she says she finally feels pain-free and can enjoy time with her son again.

How is she managing now?

She's currently dealing with perimenopause and uses GLP-1 meds like Mounjaro plus hormone therapy to manage her weight and perimenopause symptoms.
Schumer made it clear that her weight loss was all about feeling better—not fitting into beauty standards.

Facing criticism & setting things straight

Some people called her out for changing her stance on body positivity, but Schumer stood by her choices, saying this was about medical necessity.
She also took a moment to shut down rumors about trouble with husband Chris Fischer—they're still going strong.
