Ananya Panday had to change her walk for 'Kesari 2'?
What's the story
Ananya Panday, who appeared on Bollywood Hungama's Hangout at IFP, spoke about her extensive preparation for Kesari Chapter 2. Set in the 1920s, the film required Panday to completely drop her Gen Z mannerisms and adopt a more subdued physicality of that era. She said she had to "change the way I walked" and "work on the way I talk."
Character transformation
'I'm a 2025 Gen Z girl...'
Panday elaborated on her character's transformation, saying, "I'm a 2025 Gen Z girl. I'm playing someone from the 1920s." "She can't move her hands like this or make a hundred expressions. There's a certain way in which she had to talk and walk and be. So, I had to really work on that."
Film preparation
Panday discussed the need for workshops in films
When asked if every film needs workshops, Panday said it depends on the project. She explained that movies based on spontaneity, like her upcoming Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri with Kartik Aaryan, required little to no rehearsal. "There are certain films where you don't need to do workshops," she said, adding that she and Aaryan didn't even read together more than once before going on set.
Role depth
Emotional films require detailed preparation: Panday
Panday said that projects with more emotional depth, like CTRL, Gehraiyaan, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, and of course, Kesari Chapter 2, required detailed preparation. "Those films require work because there's a big internal world the character is feeling." On the work front, Panday will next be seen in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and has also started shooting for the second season of her OTT show Call Me Bae.
