The Bombay High Court is set to hear final arguments on June 24 over Goa's appeal against the 2021 acquittal of Tehelka magazine founder editor Tarun Tejpal in a high-profile rape case.
The original trial court let Tejpal off, saying the complainant did not demonstrate any kind of normative behavior that a victim of sexual assault might plausibly show.
Tushar Mehta calls complainant 'sterling witness'
Goa's legal team, led by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, argued that the trial focused too much on questioning the complainant's personal life instead of the actual allegations.
Mehta called her a "sterling witness" and pointed out she was clear about consent.
