Charan and Kapoor's 'Peddi' crosses 300cr globally amid revenue dispute
Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor's Peddi has raked in over ₹300 crore globally since dropping on June 4.
But behind the scenes, its release got tangled in a revenue-sharing fight between producers, distributors, and theater owners.
The Telangana Exhibitors Association pushed for a new profit-sharing model instead of the old rental system, while the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) asked for more time to switch things up.
'Peddi' figures disputed, Kilaru says excluded
The dispute actually started months ago with earlier films, and TFCC's revenue model update before Peddi hit theaters remains unresolved.
Producer Venkata Satish Kilaru says he was left out of key meetings about ticket prices and profit splits for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, decisions he feels clash with existing deals.
To add to the confusion, filmmakers claim Peddi made ₹393 crore in 11 days, but trade sources report a lower figure of ₹317.12 crore in 14 days.
Despite all this drama off-screen, audiences are still showing up in big numbers.
