CINTAA leadership row as Dhillon and Kolhapure rebut Singh
There's some real tension at the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA).
President Poonam Dhillon is pushing back against accusations from General Secretary Upasana Singh, who claimed there's "dictatorship" and "dictatorial" leadership.
Dhillon called the allegations "baseless," saying all funds are handled transparently.
Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure also backed her up, insisting resources are only used for intended beneficiaries.
Eleven EC members resign from CINTAA
Earlier this month, 11 out of 21 Executive Committee members resigned, upset about centralized decision-making by Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure, and some other members of the Executive Committee.
Singh accepted their resignations and argued that CINTAA's constitution requires fresh elections, but claims Dhillon and her team haven't stepped down.
She also accused Dhillon of the manner in which disciplinary action was allegedly being taken against artistes, like show-cause notices to dissenters.
An Extraordinary General Meeting held despite these resignations has only added to the leadership crisis, with Singh saying it's further adding to the ongoing dispute over the functioning of CINTAA.
