
Daytime Emmys: David Attenborough (99) scripts history as oldest winner
What's the story
The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place on Friday (US time) in Pasadena, California. Notably, Sir David Attenborough broke Dick Van Dyke's record to become the oldest winner at these awards at 99 years old! Attenborough won Outstanding Daytime Personality (Non-Daily) for Netflix's Secret Lives of Orangutans. The event was also a big night for ABC's General Hospital, which bagged seven awards, including the coveted Outstanding Daytime Drama Series.
Lead acting honors
Paul Telfer, Nancy Lee Grahn take lead acting awards
Paul Telfer from Days of Our Lives and Nancy Lee Grahn from General Hospital won the lead acting awards. Telfer, who plays Xander Kiriakis on Peacock's Days of Our Lives, dedicated his win to his late mother. "My mom always loved soaps and she loved villains," he said. Grahn, on the other hand, said, "Our democracy is worth fighting for, the people in it are worth caring about, and whether you have a platform or not."

Supporting acting honors went to Jonathan Jackson, Susan Walters
Jonathan Jackson and Susan Walters were the recipients of the supporting acting awards. Jackson, who originated the role of Lucky Spencer on General Hospital in 1993 and has played it on and off since then, won for his iconic portrayal. Walters, a first-time nominee from The Young and the Restless, was honored for her portrayal of Diane Jenkins.

Alley Mills won the guest performer award
General Hospital continued its winning streak with Alley Mills winning the Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category. The show also bagged awards for its writing and directing teams. Mills, who plays Heather Webber, commented, "We're living in really dark times right now. Everything's crazy. We just got to keep our spirits high."

Barrymore's big win; Lisa Yamada takes home emerging talent award
Drew Barrymore won her first award for Daytime Talk Series Host for her eponymous New York-based show. Lisa Yamada from CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful won in the emerging talent category. Meanwhile, Kardea Brown won in the Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series category for Food Network's Delicious Miss Brown.
