Ex-IAS Pooja Khedkar's father gets bail in kidnap case
Dilip Khedkar, father of ex-IAS probationer Pooja Khedkar, got anticipatory bail from the Bombay High Court after being accused of kidnapping a truck helper, Prahlad Kumar, during a road rage incident on September 13, 2024.
Police say Khedkar and his driver took Kumar to Khedkar's Pune bungalow and kept him there overnight, allegedly to recover compensation after a minor crash.
Khedkar denies this, saying Kumar left the next morning by mutual agreement.
Court sets strict conditions for bail
The court granted bail on October 16, 2024, but set strict conditions: Khedkar must cooperate with the investigation and pay ₹4 lakh to Kumar plus ₹1 lakh to the Police Welfare Fund.
His wife, Manorama Khedkar, also got anticipatory bail after being accused of releasing dogs to block police during Kumar's rescue.
The couple allegedly tried to dodge police and destroy evidence, and the investigation is still ongoing under kidnapping charges.
