The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards, presented by Gujarat Tourism, took place on October 11, 2025, at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. Major winners

Best Film, Best Director, Leading Actor/Actress awards

The Best Film award went to Laapataa Ladies, while Kiran Rao won the Best Director award for the same film. Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan were named Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male), sharing the award for their performances in I Want To Talk and Chandu Champion, respectively. Alia Bhatt was named Best Actress in a Leading Role (Female) for Jigra. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor (Critics') award for Srikanth.

Technical triumphs

Technical awards for 'Laapataa Ladies,' 'Kill'

Laapataa Ladies continued its winning streak by bagging the Best Music Album, Best Background Score, and Best Costume awards. Ram Sampath took home the award for Best Music Album and Best Background Score for Laapataa Ladies. Kill was recognized for its technical excellence with awards for Best Cinematography (Rafey Mehmood), Best Production Design (Mayur Sharma), and Best Sound Design (Subash Sahoo).

Screenplay honors

Story, screenplay, dialogue awards

The Best Story award went to Aditya Dhar and Monal Thaakar for Article 370, while Sneha Desai bagged the Best Screenplay award for Laapataa Ladies. The Best Dialogue award also went to Desai for Laapataa Ladies. The RD Burman Award for Upcoming Talent in Music was given to Achint Thakkar for Jigra and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.

Special recognitions

Special segment honoring legendary personalities

The ceremony also honored legendary actors and singers from the 1950s to the 1990s with a special segment celebrating their contributions to Indian cinema. Meena Kumari, Bimal Roy, Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi, Kajol were among those recognized. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal (posthumously).
