Former 'The Traitors's contestant Little lost £40,000 in phishing scam
Sam Little, a former contestant of BBC's The Traitors, lost his entire £40,000 life savings to a phishing scam in January 2026.
The money was meant to help him and his wife start a family.
In January 2026, he got what looked like legitimate bank messages about suspicious account activity and ended up calling the number they gave.
Little reported scam to police
Little says it was "gut-wrenching" to see years of hard work vanish in seconds. He reported everything to the police, but crypto fraud cases are tough to investigate and Report Fraud is in the process of exploring this report by carrying out a manual review.
With cybercrime up 31% in the UK last year alone, Little hopes sharing his story will warn others, because as he puts it, "It's really scary" how easily anyone can get caught out by these scams.
