'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' trailer: Suriya is a 'judge in dhoti'

    What's the story

The trailer of Etharkkum Thunindhavan or ET is here!

Led by Suriya, the Tamil action thriller co-stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as Aadhini, partner of Kannabiran (Suriya); Sathyaraj as Kannabiran's father; and Vinay Rai as Inba, the main antagonist, among others.

From the trailer, we could make out that the film will be a rural drama.

ET is slated to hit theaters on March 10.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

Suriya's last theatrical outing was Kaappaan, which released in 2019. So, it has been three years since we saw him in action on the big screen.

This anyway makes ET a much-awaited venture.

Moreover, the actor-producer's last two film, Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru, were groundbreaking and smashed several records.

So, in that light, no one would mind more of Suriya for sure.

    Details

    What does the trailer show?

The trailer opens with Sathyaraj's voiceover that tells us that Kannabiran wanted to be a scientist, but "time and God wished for him to be like this."

While this is on, we see Kannabiran's fighting sequences on the screen from which it is understood that he will be a vigilante sort of a character.

Action apart, we also get to see his humorous side.

    Personal

    The funny moments were good

Some tongue-in-cheek moments lighten up the otherwise serious and intense trailer. The point where Suriya's character makes fun of the film's director (!) is a smart addition. And all of these are aptly helped by D Imman's engaging background score.

    Information

Parts where we felt the trailer lacked

But, the trailer did not leave us all impressed.

Like, we didn't find Suriya and Mohan's chemistry convincing. Mohan looked stiff in front of him.

Also, Rai as the antagonist does not seem fierce and an apt rival to Suriya's character.

But since his negative role was lauded in the recently released Doctor, let's just wait for the film to hit the theaters.

    Updates

These are the other upcoming projects of Suriya

Directed by Pandiraj, ET has Saranya Ponvannan as Kannabiran's mother.

Produced by Sun Pictures, it will also release in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.

Separately, Suriya has several interesting projects in his pipeline.

He has a film with director Bala that will start its shooting schedule soon. It will be produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment.

He also has Vaadivaasal with ace filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
