Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead at their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say both had knife wounds and are treating the case as a suspected homicide.
The LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation, with senior officials present.
Who was Rob Reiner?
Reiner first became famous as "Meathead" on All in the Family—earning two Emmys—before directing classics like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men.
He married Michele Singer in 1989; they had three children together.
