Oscars 2025: PTSD-themed 'In the Shadow...' wins Best Animated Short

What's the story

In the Shadow of the Cypress won Best Animated Short Film at the 97th Academy Awards, triumphing over fellow nominees Beautiful Men, Magic Candies, Wander to Wonder, and Yuck! Also known by its Iranian title, Dar Saaye Sarv, the 2023 animated short was directed by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani. The 20-minute film, which explores PTSD, premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
