India just made it easier for foreign tech experts to work here
India's new e-B-4 visa module, launched on November 29, 2025, lets companies quickly get digital sponsorship letters so foreign technical specialists can work in the country.
It's all about cutting red tape and speeding things up for global talent.
How does it actually work?
The system connects directly with government databases to auto-fill and verify company info—no more waiting around for extra ministry approvals.
Each sponsorship letter comes with a unique ID, making the visa application process smoother and fully online.
The e-B-4 visa itself is electronic and lasts one to six months.
Why does this matter now?
Both PLI and non-PLI firms can use the new module, which already saw 129 applications by mid-December.
This follows a recent policy change that shifted roles like installation and consultancy from employment visas to business visas under a new B-4 category—covering everything from quality checks to IT training.
For anyone interested in working on big projects in India (or hiring international talent), this is a pretty big deal.
