Judge declares mistrial in Avila's $90 million lawsuit against Brown
A $90 million lawsuit against Chris Brown just hit pause: a Los Angeles judge declared a mistrial after juror misconduct.
The case was brought by Maria Avila, Brown's former housekeeper, who says she was seriously injured and traumatized when his dog Hades attacked her at his home back in December 2020.
Juror misconduct prompts jury dismissal
The trial stopped suddenly when a juror broke the rules by looking up info online and talking about it with others.
Because of this, the judge dismissed the jury and will start over with a new group.
Avila reportedly needed 80 stitches after the attack, and Hades was put down less than two weeks later.
Brown faces UK assault trial
This isn't Brown's only court drama: he's also set to face trial in the UK later this year for allegedly assaulting a music producer.
He settled another civil case in June 2025 but has asked that past domestic violence claims not be brought up during his upcoming trial.
