Jyotiba Phule biopic hits a snag over missing files
The long-awaited biopic on Mahatma Jyotiba Phule is facing yet another delay—this time because key government documents needed for production have mysteriously vanished.
These files, tied to the project's approval process, went missing from Mantralaya and only incomplete photocopies remain.
The whole situation has led to an official police investigation.
Police step in; film still made it to screens
Authorities are now looking into how these records disappeared and whether contract or oversight issues played a role, especially given all the political changes since the project started.
Interestingly, despite all this drama behind the scenes, a version of the Phule biopic directed by Anant Mahadevan did release in April 2025—though it had to make some CBFC-mandated edits around caste-related language before hitting theaters.
