Kerala budget pledges 100cr to J C Daniel film city
Kerala's latest budget is giving the Malayalam film industry some serious love: ₹100 crore has been set aside for a brand new J C Daniel International Film City in Kochi.
The state's also planning to officially recognize cinema as an industry, launch an anti-piracy cell, build a permanent home for the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), and honor late actor Salim Kumar with a memorial in Ernakulam.

Big names from the industry are cheering these moves.
actor Mohanlal called them the proposed measures would provide fresh momentum and growth opportunities for the sector, while actor Mammootty thanked the government and asked for quick action.
actor-producer Prithviraj Sukumaran said he's proud of the film city and anti-piracy plans.
