Madras High Court halts ED proceedings against film producer, businessman
The Madras High Court has paused the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) actions against film producer Akash Baskaran and businessman Vikram Ravindran.
Both were under the scanner for a suspected ₹1,000 crore money laundering case tied to Tamil Nadu's state-run TASMAC.
The court stepped in after the two challenged the ED's search and seizure moves.
TL;DR
Court found just wasn't enough proof linking them
Looking at what the ED had collected, the court found there just wasn't enough proof linking Baskaran and Ravindran to money laundering.
The materials shared didn't back up earlier claims of "incriminating" info.
For now, the court has ordered that seized properties be temporarily returned, and more hearings are set for July 16.
