'Ohh My Dog' gets massive boost in 3rd week
What's the story
Despite facing tough competition from Hollywood's Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Bollywood films Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947, the Hindi film Ohh My Dog has managed to hold its ground at the box office. The movie, directed by Amit Rai, has now seen a surge in its screen count and shows across India after two weeks of steady performance, reported Variety India. The drama stars Pankaj Tripathi and Pawan Malhotra.

Initially, Ohh My Dog was released on approximately 397 screens with around 800 shows in its first week.
However, it dropped to 45 screens and 100 shows in the second week due to the release of Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947.
Despite this setback, the film has seen a resurgence with an increase to 86 screens and 200 shows in its third week, thanks to public demand.
Director's insight
'The public has run this film': Rai
Rai told the outlet, "Two big films came out last week."
"But as soon as Friday, Saturday and Sunday got over, our shows picked up and received occupancy of around 80% to housefull."
"This week, the theater owners have observed the demand and doubled the number of shows and increased the number of screens across India."

Southern solidarity
Support from South India
In contrast to the northern markets, Ohh My Dog has been receiving immense support from South India.
Actors and directors like Nagarjuna, Amala Akkineni, and B.V. Nandini Reddy have promoted the film.
Rai revealed, "Amala, Nagarjuna, and Nandini sent me the ticket money for the film. Nandini sent me ₹5,000 on UPI."
