What's the story

The organizers of the recent Toronto event, Dil Se... Madhuri, featuring Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit, has responded to the backlash over her late arrival. True Sound Live Ltd. clarified that the event started on time, and Dixit's management team was responsible for the delay. Also, many fans had claimed that the event was marketed as a concert but turned out to be more of a talk session.

Statement details

Organizers clarify that the event started on time

In their statement, True Sound Live Ltd. said, "The event commenced on time with a high-energy opening act featuring exceptional singers from Indian Idol, exactly as scheduled." They stated the show's format was supposed to feature a Q&A at 8:30 pm, followed by Dixit's 60-minute performance. However, despite the production team's "readiness and communication throughout the evening, Madhuri Dixit's own management team misinformed her about the call time, resulting in her late arrival around 10 PM."

Public invitation

'Please watch videos that show Dixit's on-stage presence'

The organizers also asked fans to watch videos that "clearly show Madhuri Dixit's on-stage presence and performance." They said, "Our company fulfilled every contractual and logistical responsibility, from staging, lighting, and sound to audience management, and maintained the event timeline as planned." "We also want to clarify that certain backstage individuals, including Shreya Gupta, were preoccupied with personal video recordings instead of supporting the artist's timely coordination, which further added to the confusion."

Fan reactions

Fans criticized Dixit for her late arrival

Fans who attended the Toronto show on November 2 took to social media to express their disappointment. Some criticized Dixit for her late arrival, while others called the evening a "complete waste of time and money." Despite the controversy, Dixit is scheduled to continue her USA-Canada tour with performances in New Jersey, Boston, Chicago, Houston, and New York.
